The SUNY Geneseo Facilities Department is looking for a reliable and dedicated individual to join our team as a Trades Generalist.
As a Trades Generalist, you would be responsible for journey-level work in the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of a wide variety of building systems and components. This may include:
electrical plumbing refrigeration air conditioning, including overhauling pumps and electric motors replacing parts and controls as necessary installing new equipment.
You will perform required maintenance and emergency repairs of facilities and equipment in Zone areas. This includes troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining various building systems in a proper, safe, and timely manner.
To be successful in this position, you’ll need a working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the craft or crafts to which they are assigned. You may supervise and/or train other trade positions in the repair and maintenance of building equipment consistent with their skills, assign work, provide directions, observe work, and inspect upon completion. Required Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Preferred Qualifications OPERATIONAL NEEDS

Work with steam and their parts, traps, Spence valve, lines and condensation systems, tube bundles, valves, and some controls. Work on air handlers, make-up air units, exhaust fans, VAV, humidifiers. Work on hot water systems, heating and domestic systems, HWT, pumps, explanation tanks, piping and repair of the piping system.
