Duties Description Position Information:CALLING ALL PLUMBERS! We are seeking a skilled tradesperson to join our Department as a Trades Generalist in the Plumbing Unit located at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse NY. The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is hiring for a Trades Generalist position to work in the Maintenance Department’s Plumbing Unit at the New York State Fairgrounds. The Trades Generalist will be responsible for performing a range of duties in the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment. This will include but will not be limited to the installation, alteration, and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, ventilating, heating control, water, and drainage systems according to specification and plumbing codes at the New York State Fairgrounds. The Fairgrounds are located at 581 State Fair Boulevard in Syracuse, New York, and offers a comfortable work environment, complete with free parking. The Trades Generalist is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday from 6:45 am to 3:15 pm.

Non-competitive: four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Preferred Qualifications: four years of experience in plumbing or a combination of plumbing experience and training by completion of technical courses in plumbing at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
