As our Trades Worker you will spend your days ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of both the beach itself, as well as the surrounding picnic facilities, restrooms, and canoe launch areas. This position starts out paying between $17.33 (Step 01) to $18.94 (Step 04), based upon experience, and benefits begin within 60 days of hire. Perform daily maintenance, minor repairs, cleaning and upkeep of Lido Beach. Examples include: cleaning (both general and deep cleaning), trash removal, litter picking, and other duties associated with daily upkeep/maintenance.
Offer occasional trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, and/or electrical work, depending upon the tasks necessary.
Assist with diagnosing maintenance issues and completing assigned work.
Help to schedule programs, events and summer camps, as needed. This can also include the setup, take down, and operations of such events.
Use and care for small equipment such as, but not limited to, lawn mowers, weed eaters, edgers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, pressure washers, etc. for landscape.
Coordinate volunteer work and exotic invasive plant removal, as well as resource management projects (as assigned).
Utilize hand and power tools to perform restoration work within Lido beach.
Aid Environmental Specialists with duties and tasks for resource management.
Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions and concerns in a timely manner; communicating any concerns or issues to the supervisor.
Work Hours:
Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
The beach operates Sunday - Saturday, 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Assigned work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, emergencies, etc.
Hours and scheduled days to be determined based on division needs at the time of job posting. Predicted shift will be in the morning but can vary, on occasion.
Must be flexible as nights, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
About YouMinimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent education.
One year of experience as a semi-skilled laborer in the care and maintenance of parks, landscape, athletic fields, or other similar grounds.
Valid Florida Driver License at time of hire.
Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.
Physical Demands: May occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds, with assistance.
