After probationary period is successfully completed, shift may change to 3:30pm-11:30pm during the school year. Position Summary Information Position Summary This is semi-skilled trades work assisting a tradesman engaged in construction, building maintenance, motorized equipment maintenance and repair, or allied trades work. An employee in this job performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks assisting tradesman with the duties of a trade or group of closely related trades. This position is intended to grow the Tradesman Helper into the Plumbing Trade. Work assignments are usually designed to develop the knowledges and skills required by the trades. Working independence and task difficulty and complexity are increased as employees develop skill and proficiency. Work involves considerable physical and manual labor and is performed under the close supervision of a skilled tradesman who provides on-the-job training, makes assignments, and reviews work in process and upon completion. EXAMPLES OF WORK : ( NOTE : The examples of work are representative of the work, but every position classified to this job may not perform all examples of work listed. Conversely, this is not an all-inclusive list of work examples.) •Participates in on-the-job training in the practices, methods, and techniques of a recognized trade. •Assists a skilled tradesman in performing the duties of their trade. •Maintains equipment and tools in good working condition. •Performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled tasks designed to increase competence and to learn the use of the tools of a trade. •Prepares records and reports on work completed. •Performs related work as required. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : •Certain positions require an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license or equivalent Preferred Qualifications Experience working with diverse populations preferred.
