JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing administrative support to the traffic function of the organization

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)

 Responsible for all aspects of logging orders, routing, shipping, and tracking of outbound orders. Responsible for obtaining freight charges for all shipments shipped; prepare paperwork (separate bills of ladings, delivery receipts and stamp date) for the billing department. Determine shipping method for materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates. Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for recordkeeping purposes. Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of material. Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages and nonconformance to specifications. Compute amounts, such as space available and shipping, storage, and demurrage.

Education:

Requires a high school diploma/GED or 2 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area

Experience:

Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the particular field.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency in MS Word,Excel,Access, Outlook and  Explorer

Mathematical Abilities:

Accuracy in data entry and basic math skills required

Analytical or Reasoning Abilities:

Ability to handle instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Communication Skills: (Writing, Foreign Language, Reasoning)

Professional verbal communication skills required

The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel objects.tools,or controls and reach with hands and arms The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10- 70 pounds.
