Summary

The Traffic Project Engineer performs traffic counts, engineering calculations, traffic analysis, computer aided modeling and simulations, illumination design, and design of temporary and permanent traffic control devices for large, complex civil and transportation projects. Duties include coordination with clients and government agencies, preparation of traffic analyses, plans, specifications and cost estimates, technical report writing, performing quality control checking of others’ work, and other duties as assigned with very little oversight. The person in this position is expected to exercise a strong work ethic, desire to learn and apply new design concepts, providing training and mentoring to others with less experience, and have great organizational and communication skills. A Traffic Project Engineer 1 should demonstrate advanced proficiency with drafting fundamentals and software, be able to quickly apply traffic design concepts, and exercise discretion and judgement in all work tasks. This person is expected to work well with others, absorb and apply constructive criticism, and seek guidance from more experienced members of the team as necessary.

Software

Project Delivery

Industry Standards and Regulations

Client Interaction

Frequent direct communications with clients to resolve technical issues on moderate to complex projects. Leads client project meetings. Understands appropriate messaging and legal risks.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's Degree required Master's Degree preferred Years of experience required: 6 years Years of experience required with advanced degree: 5 years

PE required Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
