The Prattville Mill Traffic Special Projects role will be responsible for managing warehouse inventories. Additionally, this position will serve as a liaison between the Shipping warehouse and Traffic department. The Shipping area functions as a warehouse to store and ship finished product (paper rolls) via rail and truck to internal and external customers (box plants). Additionally, Shipping must move rolls reliably to sustain our internal customers, the paper machines. Traffic Special Projects will be responsible for the day-to-day manufacturing needs in a manner that delivers target results in the areas of safety, environmental, reliability, quality, productivity, cost, and employee engagement.
The Job You Will Perform:
Responsible for the paper machine scheduling:
Assure the paper machines have proper run cycles/trims/orders/schedules. Responsible for coordinating any necessary grade run schedule changes with the paper mill and Memphis Supply Planning Group. Coordinate trials with mill CTS, machine managers and supply planning. Assist in special assignments as neededResponsible for customer service and inventories:
Work with AE/RP to resolve customer issues. Communicate with CTE on trims without shipment plans. Responsible for stranded inventory resolution. Work closely with the CTE, COM and Shipping departments to maintain a safe inventory level. Responsible for the diversion/transfer of product. Responsible for managing Shipping warehouse inventory levels to a safe and functional level.Transportation Functions:
Responsible for managing the trailer loading functions. Responsible for trailer pool maintenance. Responsible for rail maintenance. Coordinate work to stay within budget. Resolve any track deficiencies to avoid derailments. Responsible for LTL store shipments and DOT permitted loads. Responsible for DOT Hazmat Compliance for the mill which includes truck, rail and air shipments and training for the various departments involved in handling hazmat shipments. Responsible for the safety and performance of third part rail switching contractor and trailer spotting contractor. Report for self-reporting demurrage and switching refund information to railroads and payment of demurrage and detention. Responsible for the maintenance and certifications on the 6 mill truck scales and the in-motion rail scales. Maintain AEI Scanner on mill property. Resolved miss scan issues reports with NS & CSXT. Handle maintenance issues with mill E&I. Work with third party to fully develop the replacement system for Railcar Management and Commodity Arrival Departure System. Responsible for box car supply and demurrage and detention cost. Position requires weekday and weekend duty.The Skills You Will Bring:
This position requires a B.S. Degree in Supply Chain or Logistics or equivalent experience. The candidate should have demonstrated leadership skills, technical knowledge in operations and strong interpersonal skills.
