Position Summary
Position is responsible for management of the trails in the city parks. Work related activities may incorporate all facets of the trails including recreational programming of the trails.
Position Responsibilities
Monitors, evaluates, and recommends improvements, repairs, or changes to the resources of the park location to best meet the needs of the community.
Manages the customer service relations with the trails.
Processes the customer inquiries and complaints, training and monitoring related to customer service skills.
Coordinates and communicates park plans and needs with other departments to insure customers are satisfied and trails are safe and well maintained.
Completes inspections reports. Receives and/or prepares various forms, work orders, report/forms and other documentation.
Keeps accurate records of work completed.Trims or removes obstacles on the trails.
Performs tasks related to park landscaping and horticulture (edging, pick up trash/litter, pruning, planting, etc.).
Designs and implements environmental programs on the trails.Assists with environmental program in the facilities.
Maintains all necessary records and files for reporting and audit.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, recreation management, natural resources management, park management, or related field, with one (1) to three (3) years of experience required. Must have strong field-based trail maintenance skills. Must be self-motivated. Must be people oriented. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to pull, drag and manipulate debris. Experience and knowledge of equipment use, operation, care, safety devices, maintenance and limitations for all equipment utilized with the trail operation. Repetitive performance of coordination and flexibility actions such as bending, crawling, walking and kneeling. Ability to follow directions with accuracy and with attention to detail. Must be able to establish a professional rapport with users of the parks. Must have good communication skills. Must be able to type, update and/or create reports, and spreadsheets as needed. Demonstrate creative ability when presented with unformatted projects and/or ideas. Ability to work alone or independently. Ability to follow all policies and procedures in Staff and City Manual. Ability to remain flexible and adaptable to accommodate changing work requirements, workload and working conditions. Ability to lift, carry and maneuver 50lbs. and greater on a routine basis over uneven terrain. Indiana Driver’s License required.
