Keep Our Fleet Rolling Safely: Join Us as a Skilled Trailer Maintenance Technician!As a Trailer Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out all duties as it pertains to the repair, maintenance, service and safety to vehicular equipment and trailers, in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, Commercial Vehicle Standards Association and corporate standard practices. Led by the Supervisor, Trailer Maintenance, this position will best suit a strong team player that enjoys the challenge of troubleshooting and maintaining various on/off highway equipment. Here’s how: Perform repair and maintenance services and safety on all assigned trailers as required under the Highway Traffic Act and Home Hardware’s Transportation Policy.Responsible for some work on parts of the truck that are non-mechanical in nature (i.e., those that do not require truck maintenance certification).Ensure necessary repairs are completed as reported by equipment operators and assigned by acting supervisor.Identify, diagnose, and repair faults or malfunctions. Complete minor and major repairs of trailers as required, including but not limited to brakes, wheel seals, bearings, walls, doors, drums, axel spindles, slack adjustments, and brake chambers.Complete work orders, preventative maintenance (PMs) annual safety inspections, quarterly maintenance inspections and tasks as assigned, using industry standard tools and in accordance with the regulated industry and Home Hardware standards.Assist with maintaining parts inventory.Collaborate and maintain good workflow with Dispatch and Supervisor(s) on garage issues and advise when trucks and trailer are out of service, as well as when put back into service.Participate in the on-call rotation.Perform other shop related duties as assigned including flexibility to cover vacations.We’re looking for: Must have a Red Seal Trailer Service Technician License (310J) or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (421A), or enrolled into the apprenticeship program. Air brake endorsement preferred.Must hold a valid driver’s license.One to two years of hands-on experience working on trailers, or similar equipment.Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.Working experience with welding, torch cutting, grinding, and machining.Basic computer skills with knowledge of standard Microsoft computer programs.Ability to work independently while ensuring all Health and Safety procedures are followed.Ability to perform the physical duties of the role, including standing, bending, crouching, and lifting up to 50+ pounds.Must be flexible and adaptable to work on days or afternoons as it pertains to business needs and vacation coverage.The ability to work onsite at our Dealer Support Centre to accommodate the needs of the role.How we’ll make you feel at HomeOur Team Members enjoy life at Home with our strong culture of support and inclusion, excellent benefits, and a team that always has your back.
