**Job Title: Trailer Mechanic**
**Job Description**
The Trailer Mechanic will perform preventive maintenance and repairs on fuel tanker trucks and trailers. The role includes responsibility for DOT inspections of trucks and tanker trailers. Mechanics are required to have their own tools, ideally a rolling tool box.
**Responsibilities**
+ Promote safety in all actions.
+ Prepare repair orders as per company policy.
+ Work effectively and safely within the shop area and when making a road call without supervision.
+ Complete records in a timely manner in compliance with company rules and requirements.
+ Comply with and continually update knowledge of all DOT regulations, federal, state, local, and company standards and requirements.
+ Maintain personal safety when performing maintenance operations on tractors and/or trailers.
+ Maintain an environment of cleanliness and safety within the shop.
+ Dispose of all waste products, both hazardous and non-hazardous, properly.
+ Communicate with supervisors as required.
+ Carry out duties assigned by supervisors or the CSC Manager as required.
**Essential Skills**
+ High School Education or equivalent.
+ Possess or be willing to obtain ASE Brake certification within the first 180 days of employment.
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
+ Self-starter with detail-oriented work habits.
+ Meet qualification requirements as stipulated in Sections 396.19 and 396.25 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
+ Ability to safely operate tractor/trailer units within terminal premises.
+ Technical knowledge to ensure proper treatment of various required components, including air compressors, fuel pumps, hubs, wheels, and springs.
+ Ability to perform inspections on specification cargo tanks.
+ Inspect, repair, or replace domes, valves, vents, or other equipment as necessary within safety, regulatory, and company standards.
+ Display professional demeanor.
+ Good interpersonal skills; able to work well with a wide range of individuals.
+ Demonstrate dependability through good attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules.
+ Basic mechanic’s skills.
+ Thorough knowledge of DOT regulations, federal, state, local, and company regulations and standards.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Tanker trailer experience highly preferred (will consider flatbed trailer experience).
+ Experience with DOT 406, 407, 412 Tanker/cargo tanker highly preferred.
+ Must hold or be willing to obtain cargo tank inspection certification.
+ CDL Class A is a plus but not required.
+ Mechanical aptitude and experience with diesel engines, service, welding, and truck maintenance.
+ Must have own tools.

**Work Environment**
The work environment includes a normal shop setting with concrete floors and sometimes uneven or slippery surfaces. You must be able to stand for extended periods of time on a concrete floor and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds. The shop is a 2-bay small shop.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Park City, Kansas.
