Job Title: Mechanic/Welder

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic/Welder who will be responsible for handling general preventative maintenance tasks such as electrical, brakes, air systems, and fluid replacement. A significant part of the job involves maintaining tanker trailers used for transporting liquids such as fuel and food materials. This position requires proficiency in fabrication and mechanical work, including the ability to climb through hatches into the trailers and work in confined spaces and heights.

ResponsibilitiesPerform general preventative maintenance tasks including electrical, brakes, air systems, and fluid replacement.Maintain and repair tanker trailers used for transporting liquids, requiring work in confined spaces and at heights.Proficiently perform fabrication and mechanical work, including tearing down damaged trailers and replacing sections with new or manufactured parts.Execute various types of aluminum weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacture aluminum products according to drawings and specifications.Work at a consistent speed with minimal repairs, following specific instructions and project schedules.Read and interpret blueprint drawings and perform finish grinding applications using manual and hand tools.Essential SkillsProficiency in assigned aluminum welding techniques in all positions and tight spaces using plate, tee bar, flat bar, square tube, pipe, and other extrusions with minimal rework.Experience in mechanical repair, including Diesel, structures, sheet metal, and trailer repair.Ability to tear down damaged or broken parts and either fabricate or replace them.Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.Ability to read blueprint drawings and use manual and hand tools for finish grinding applications.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with brakes, suspension, air, and electrical systems.Must possess basic tools and be flexible with work tasks.Attention to detail and a sense of urgency.Willingness to learn welding for the right candidates.Why Work Here?

The work environment is an open garage that can be messy, especially when working inside a tank, which is why uniforms are provided. The shop itself is clean and well-equipped, although it is not flashy.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, Washington.

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $40.00
