The position Excellent opportunity for an individual to join the Financial Asset Management team of the world’s largest renewable energy company as a trainee junior management accountant, with full training, exposure to a wide array of financial operations and potential opportunity to study for an accountancy qualification. The UK & I Asset Management department is a growing team whose sole purpose is to deliver financial support services under Management Service Agreements (MSAs) across multiple clients owning renewable assets under management including onshore Wind Farms, Solar Farms and Storage Farms. The team is effectively an outsourced finance business partnership, which among many other services includes delivering on the following key tasks for each portfolio: monthly management accounts with comparisons and analysis to budget, cashflow forecasts, distribution calculations, annual budget preparation, bank loan compliance, financial statement preparation including audit process management and tax return oversight. It is essential that a strong control environment and professional scepticism is maintained throughout the team and processes and procedures are robust, well documented and are constantly monitored. The business continues to grow rapidly which therefore requires an individual with a can-do attitude that can quickly adapt to changes in priorities and be happy to get involved in a variety of tasks, to help maintain top quality service to our clients. The AM Finance department is managing over 150+ Companies and a team size of 22 across 12 clients. Reporting to the Finance Manager of the business unit, the Trainee Junior Management Accountant will be responsible for assisting with the financial compliance of a number of legal entities (operating assets), with regular reporting to internal and external clients. This opportunity also potentially provides support for gaining a professional accountancy qualification. Acountabilities Accurately scan, register & electronically file invoices on day of receipt into ERP systemPrepare payment runs in line with agreed payment terms, inclusive of submitting for signature from external parties prior to submission of final draft where applicableLiaise with internal colleagues and external suppliers to resolve queriesReconcile supplier statements, matching transactions within the ERP systemEnsure that all accounts payable processes are completed in accordance with the monthly accounting timetableAssist with the preparation of periodic financial reporting and analysis packages for internal and external clients on a timely and accurate basisAssist with Management, production and delivery of financial forecasts, budgets and cash flow projections by liaising with asset managers and clients for entitiesAssist with preparation and submission of periodic VAT returns for entitiesAssist with the year-end audit and statutory accounts preparation process for a number of legal entities based in the UK and Republic of Ireland, liaising with external auditors and tax advisorsAssist with preparing statutory accounts for SPV companies in FRS 102Supporting continuous improvements to accounting and reporting processes together with the wider Finance and ERP development teamsSupporting regular queries from the Asset ManagersExecuting additional tasks to meet changing business needs and departmental objectives Knowledge Strong aptitude for accounting/numbers Skills and Experience Strong Microsoft ExcelAttention to detailProactive, ‘can do’ attitudeA team player but with the discipline to work autonomouslyGood communication skills and the confidence and credibility to communicate to external partiesAbility to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and deadlinesGood problem solving skills Qualifications Desirable - Possible AAT qualified/part qualifiedEssential - Relevant degree or A-Level qualifications At RES, we celebrate differences as we know it makes our company a great place to work.
