Training and Curriculum Specialist

The primary purpose of this position is to t provide experience and training under the PAQ Program which leads to the professional development in the training and Curriculum Specialist field. Responsibilities Performs tasks to assist training and curriculum specialists in developing age-appropriate activity plans for children 6 weeks through 12 years of age. Performs tasks to assist the Training and Curriculum Specialist in developing administering and evaluating on going programs of age-appropriate individual and group developmental. Assists in conducting training for Child and Youth Program Assistants (CYPAs), Family Child Care providers, Kitchen Staff, Custodial, Volunteers and Clerical staff. Performs tasks to assist in providing support to the Family Child Care Coordinator on necessary training of family childcare providers and other staff. Helps select, compile, and maintain a training and resource library for Child and Youth Program facilities. Performs tasks to assist in the direction of cooks, food service workers, and custodial staff. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: 1. Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. or 2. Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above. To qualify for a GS-07: Completion of 1 full year of graduate level education, or bachelor's degree with Superior academic Achievement as provided in the "General Policies and Instructions" for Qualifications Standards Operating Manual, or 5 academic years of pre-professional study, or 1 year specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-5. You must have completed a 4 year course of study leading to a bachelor's from an accredited institution AND must have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level in one of the following: a) Class Standing - upper third of the graduating class based on completed courses in the college, university, or major subdivision; b) Grade Point Average - 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum. If more than 10 percent of total undergraduate credit hours are non-graded, i.e. pass/fail, CLEP, CCAF, DANTES, military credit, etc, you cannot qualify based on GPA; c) Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society (note: freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this position). SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes interviewing personnel and securing personal and academic histories; identifying personnel with basic skill deficiencies through interviews and standardized testing programs; assisting with development and formulation of surveys to determine level of interest in establishment of new educational programs; researching education programs; applies standard education advisement procedures and general education techniques to comprehensive customer service and routine assignments. This experience MUST be equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in Federal service, which could have been obtained in the private or public sectors. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of child and youth development concepts, theories, and principles comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the field. 2. Knowledge of the methods and techniques of fact-finding, analysis, and development of action plans to resolve program problems and issues. 3. Knowledge of administrative office procedures, practices and concepts, etc. 4. Knowledge of instructional methods and curriculum development. 5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
