Training and Development Officer
Summary The Training and Development Officer is primarily responsible for the delivery of curriculum using lesson plans to instruct personnel in specialized training relating to specific aspects of the NASA Protective Services/Security Training Program, in addition to providing duties of Armorer on site. Responsibilities Security Police Protection Force Development Officer shall provide to NASA Contractors and Civil Servants additional security, safety, and related law enforcement courses as directed by the KSC NPSTA Training Manager or NHQ Annex COR. Read, speak, understand, and apply printed rules, detailed orders, instructions, and training materials in English. Must be able to work flexible hours to include weekends and holidays. Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma. 5 years law enforcement training (Range Master preferred prior to appointment) experience or ten years of civilian/law enforcement or two years of providing SPO training. OPOTA Instructional Skills (80hrs) course (preferred) Complete a NASA Protective Service Training Academy basic course of instruction. Must be able to maintain and qualify periodically on a course of fire with handgun, or other special weapons. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Have no record or history of illegal drug use, sale, possession, or manufacture. Have no felony convictions and no convictions that reflect on the individual’s reliability including those crimes classified under the Lautenburg Act. Must be able to meet and maintain NASA Physical Certifications. Glock Basic Armorer certified. Range Instructor certified. ICS-100. ICS-200. ICS-300. IS-700. IS-800. HAZWOPER certified (40hr). Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) or higher through the State of Ohio. CPR/AED/BLS certified CPR/BLS Instructor (preferred) Must be able to acquire and maintain a SECRET government security clearance.
