Job Overview
The Training and Development Specialist I works within the People and Culture (P&C) department in coordination and collaboration with agency partners in development, implementation, and facilitation of live and online trainings and materials related to agency needs and objectives. The Training and Development Specialist will assist with onboarding new staff, train and support staff in using our Learning Management System (LMS) and facilitate trainings which support a wide range of Cascadia staff. They will provide opportunities for employees to maintain and improve performance as well as grow in their job functions.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a talented team of training specialists in a unique, new role focused on supporting our organizational adoption of OCHIN Epic as our health records system! The duties below reflect the long-term outlook of the role, but early in our implementation of OCHIN Epic, duties will be highly focused on supporting this new system. We will be most excited to hear from candidates with experience in OCHIN Epic or other complex clinical applications, especially in integrated healthcare settings.

Enthusiastic about building and maintaining relationships with Super Users and other staff across Cascadia – and able to patiently support users with a wide range of comfort with technology.
Excited to provide in person training and “elbow support” at a variety of Cascadia sites across the Portland Metro area.
Highly comfortable navigating complex technology systems such as OCHIN Epic and motivated to stay up to date on frequent changes within these systems.
Someone who loves facilitating live trainings as well as recording and maintaining video-based training materials.
Always willing to track down answers and solutions presented by our Cascadia community of staff!
Essential Duties

Live Training Facilitation
Facilitate in-person and virtual orientation training for new hires, including providing foundational training on technology systems in use at Cascadia.Develop and provide training designed to support staff knowledge and skills potentially including: Documentation Golden Thread, EHR Documentation, Motivational Interviewing (MI), crisis communication and de-escalation (ProACT), management, leadership, equity diversity and inclusion, safety, and more. This may include facilitating independently for up to 8 hours (all day), either in person or virtually.Develop and facilitate training for new employees, students, and current employees in accordance with regulating requirements and agency needs for quality improvement. Maintain knowledge of core required trainings to provide facilitation support and backup for teammates as needed, which may include full or multi-day training such as ProACT.Deliver in person or virtual training to employees across the agency and in the community. Provide Continuing Education (CE) approved training where applicable.Technology Systems & Staff Support
Assist in Learning Management System administration including: creation and maintenance of user accounts, managing new and existing modules, creating and maintaining training plans and auto-enrollments, recording attendance, running reports, and more.Train staff in technological systems including Learning Management System(s) (LMS), Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, Human Resource Information System (HRIS), and meeting and collaboration software such as Microsoft Teams. Provide basic technical support in navigation of these systems in person as well as via phone, virtual calls, and emails.Provide technical support and backup for colleagues during virtual training to ensure all attendees are able to effectively attend and engage with training content.Provide assistance and support to staff at all levels of the agency.Agency Collaboration, Coordination, and Support
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all levels of staff and leadership.In coordination with team leadership, assess agency training needs and work to develop and implement effective instructional material and live training. Support overall agency training needs as directed by leadership.Participate in workgroups and projects as determined in collaboration with leadership. Represent training team and P&C department interests and perspectives in a positive and professional manner.Research and vet appropriate external training resources, as directed by leadership.Provide input on relevant documentation and procedural requirements related to training.General
Adhere to compliance, required laws and training, safety of property and staff, and regulations including but not limited to Mandatory abuse reporting laws, HIPPA, fire safety.Complete annual employee training requirements on a timely basis. Attend seminars, training and other educational opportunities in order to develop professional skills and abilities as determined in collaboration with leadership.Participate in all scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions, and other departmental and agency meetings.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.Experience:
Two years of experience providing training or teaching skills is required.Virtual facilitation experience strongly preferred.Experience in healthcare/ behavioral health preferred.Experience in EPIC (or other clinical applications) strongly preferred.Specialized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of principles and methods of training curriculum design and implementation.Ability to deliver teaching and instruction for groups and individuals.MS Office applications.Virtual facilitation using platforms such as MS Teams.Ability to learn new systems and technologies.Operate computer hardware and software at a level needed to effectively perform job functions.Enter and retrieve data.Prepare reports.Ability to lift 20- to 50-pound boxes.Other:

Environmental: Work is primarily performed in an office setting utilizing computers and other office equipment. Work hours are generally standard office hours, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
Mental: The work assigned is diverse and involves addressing new and unusual circumstances in which outcomes may negatively affect costs, employee morale, or clients. The work regularly involves a degree of unpredictability and disruption of planned tasks requiring a flexible time management approach.
Physical Demands: Work is primarily performed in an office setting utilizing computers and other office equipment. The nature of the position involves extended periods of sitting, however there are some tasks that involve setting up rooms and delivering training materials.
