Performs routine to moderately complex supervisory duties related to assisting with the management and oversight of the day-to-day activities of the training supervisors. Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a wide range of training activities for all department personnel. Ensures that training staff responds to users requests for needed training. Consults and collaborates with department personnel regarding available performance improvement services and conducts orientation sessions and on the job training for employees. Works with Assistant Manager in overseeing daily issues affecting training supervisors such as attendance issues, update on project and other training related issues. Develops and conducts training classes for other Departments as required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instruct trains and certifies Student Operators on Bus Operations, Safety Rules, practice, and procedures.Evaluates performance and counsel’s subordinate personnel in accordance with DARTs policies and procedures, administers corrective/disciplinary action, as appropriate. Oversees daily issues such as time and attendance, scheduling of classes, training questions and special projects.Evaluates, instructs, monitors, and supervises the training of students during their training course. Conducts new student operator classroom training as assigned.Provides on-going training for Bus Operators as needed or required. Schedules, oversees, and evaluates CDL, refresher, route, new equipment, customer relations, collision avoidance and return-to-work training on an as needed basis.Ensures that data is accurately captured and records information regarding; training class completion, training hours for payroll purposes and student operator corrective or disciplinary action are recorded in Trapeze.Tracks and monitor students’ progress after completion of training programs conducts ride checks and mentors them through their probationary period. Participates with Division Management staff and Safety Specialist in probationary reviews.Develops, reviews, and revises training programs and initiatives as needed.Attends mandatory/specialized training and continuing education classes.Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Note: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the below stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.
Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in field of expertise (e.g. Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation, Human Resources, Planning, Safety, Curriculum Development or other technical fields applicable to DART Transportation).Five (5) years related experience, including two (2) years of progressively responsible experience as a Supervisor, Facilitator, or Instructor, two (2) years experience working in positions requiring extensive customer service interaction and one (1) year of Bus Operating experience.Proficient with personal computer (PC) and software applications to include Transit Works, Trapeze and Microsoft Office. Applications including Word and Excel. Must pass technical test covering various computer software packages. Ability to use two-way communication equipment.Pass DOT physical (medical) examination, which includes a drug screen.Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.Interpersonal skills, both verbal and written to effectively communicate with all levels of supervisory and non-supervisory employees and to develop training materials.Analytical and creative skills to find solutions to problems of limited complexity.Must possess a valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License, no Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) convictions within the last sixty (60) consecutive months, not more than one (1) DWI on driving record, and not more than three (3) convictions of moving violations within last thirty-six (36) consecutive months on driving record to operate DART non-revenue vehicles.Ability to demonstrate a fiduciary obligation to section, division, department and DART in handling materials and information of a confidential nature.Must be able to lift object weighting up to 15 pounds such as books, files, computer binders, or human resource materials.Ability to be dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Works in an environment where there is minimum exposure to dust, noise, or temperature. May be moderately exposed to unpleasant working conditions to include dust, noise, temperature, weather, petroleum products, and chemicals while visiting DART's operating facilities, assuming incumbent is observing all policies and procedures, safety precautions and regulations, and using all protective clothing and devices provided.
