Minimum Hiring Wage: From $20.78 per hour Job Details: Scheduled Hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm Utilizes software with headset to listen to recordings by radiologists dictating a variety of imaging reports. Transcribe dictated reports in an accurate and timely manner. Ensure all transcriptions are grammatically correct and follow relevant formatting guidelines. Edit as necessary and return reports in an electronic format to the dictator for review and signature or correction. Edit as necessary and return reports in an electronic format to the dictator for review and signature or correction.What you will do + Answer inquiries concerning the progress of imaging exams, within the limits of confidentiality laws. + Distinguish between homonyms and recognize inconsistencies and mistakes in medical terms, referring to dictionaries, drug references, and other sources on anatomy, physiology, and medicine. + Identify mistakes in reports and check with doctors to obtain the correct information. + Perform a variety of clerical and office tasks, such as handling incoming and outgoing mail, sending imaging exams/reports, typing, filing, and operating office machines. + Contact patients to provide exam instructions. + Receive and screen telephone calls. + Return dictated reports in electronic form for radiologist's review, signature, and corrections and for inclusion in patients' medical record. + Review and edit transcribed reports or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology. + Translate medical jargon and abbreviations into their expanded forms to ensure the accuracy of patient and health care facility records. + Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive information in accordance with legal and ethical standards. Qualifications + H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required + Coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology Preferred + Two (2) to Five (5) years Medical Transcription experience Preferred + Experience with MS Office Preferred + Experience with Microsoft Windows Preferred + Experience with Nuance PowerScribe Preferred + Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. + Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology. + Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. + Managing one's own time. + Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. + The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. + The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented. + The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. + Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships + Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. + The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person. + Knowledge of patient rights and laws relative to those rights, such as HIPAA + Prepares patient records by using transcription equipment; applying knowledge of medical terminology; employing deciphering various accents, dialects, and dictation styles; correcting spelling and medical terminology errors; recognizing, interpreting, and evaluating repetitions, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in dictation; editing, revising, and clarifying without altering meaning and style; routing records for editing and approvals. + Child Abuse Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services Iowa Dept of Public Health (IDPH) (United States of America) within 30 Days + Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services Iowa Dept of Public Health (IDPH) (United States of America) within 30 Days + Certified Medical Assistant Preferred + Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Preferred Qualifications: Additional tasks may include the following:-Verify imaging reports arrive to the PACS system.-Send imaging exams and reports as requested.-Train physicians on the Nuance dictation system.-Provide patient instructions for imaging exams.
