Transfer Station Equipment Operator

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Transfer Station Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment at a transfer station for the purpose of transferring, spreading, covering, loading and compacting waste.

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.Maintain a clean and organized work environment both inside and outside the facility
2.Daily plant responsibility to include proper use of lighting, dust control and ventilation systems
3.Ensure that commodities are loaded, transported and stored in an efficient and timely manner
4.Observe and report any potential malfunctions or disruptions of plant activities
5.Observe and report sub-standard service level of contracted manpower and equipment
6.Must maintain current applicable licenses with regard to operating equipment

7.Maintain and operate designated equipment used in the Transfer Station

8.Follow all required safety policies and procedures.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Equipment operator must have a clear understanding of the proper procedures for running the equipment and all aspects of the transfer station. Knowledge of the flow of work and ability to anticipate tasks that need to occur. Ability to follow directions and work as a team or independently High School diploma or GED preferred One year prior related experience in heavy equipment operation preferred. One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.

 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Normal setting for this job is Industrial process plant with heavy production equipment, rolling stock and inventory.  Required to use motor coordination and ability to lift up to 50 pounds. May also work in a variety of environment conditions, including wide temperature and weather variations including heat, cold, snow, rain, wind; noise and vibrations, fumes, odors and dust
