We are seeking a skilled and reliable Transfer Station Operator to join our team. In this role, you will operate a backhoe to load waste from the Transfer Station tipping floor into 53-foot open-top trailers. The job involves safely and efficiently managing an average of 200 tons of waste per day, typically loading 6 to 8 trailers. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and a passion for keeping operations running smoothly. **Key Responsibilities:** + **Backhoe Operation:** Safely load trash from the tipping floor into open-top trailers (53 ft). Efficiently compact loads using the backhoe boom to ensure optimal trailer capacity. + **Trailer Management:** Once loaded, pull trailers out of the pit and stage them in the yard. Then, hook an empty trailer and stage it into the pit for the next load. + **Pit Maintenance:** Keep the loading pit clear and clean throughout the day to ensure safe and efficient operations. + **Equipment Maintenance:** Perform daily preventative maintenance, including greasing the backhoe and addressing minor maintenance issues as needed. + **Safety Compliance:** Operate according to the District's Hot Zone Plan and ensure that safety procedures are followed by all personnel entering the Hot Zone. **Work Schedule:** + Monday to Friday, 5:30 AM – 3:00 PM. **Requirements:** + Previous experience operating a backhoe or heavy machinery is required. + Strong knowledge of safety procedures and equipment maintenance. + Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. + Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and ensure a smooth workflow. + Must be able to work in all weather conditions and handle the physical demands of the job. + CDL or willingness to obtain CDL through company a plus! **Why Join Us?** + Competitive pay and benefits. + Opportunity to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to maintaining a safe and productive work environment. + Stable work schedule with no weekend hours.
