Join Our Team as a Transient Analysis Specialist – 12-Month Remote Contract Opportunity
Are you a problem-solver passionate about cutting-edge reactor technology? System One is seeking a skilled and motivated contractor to focus on transient analysis for the Molten Chloride Reactor Experiment (MCFR). This 12-month, fully remote contract offers the chance to contribute to groundbreaking advancements in nuclear safety and reactor analysis.
Why This Role? Work on novel transient analysis methods for molten salt reactors—an emerging and transformative technology. Be part of a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team tackling unique challenges in nuclear safety and thermal-hydraulic analysis. Gain hands-on experience integrating advanced simulation tools with reactor systems, shaping the future of reactor safety. Key Responsibilities Perform computational analysis of component-level and plant-wide thermal-hydraulic transients to support reactor safety. Develop and apply analysis techniques ranging from steady-state one-dimensional network hydraulic models to transient three-dimensional component-level simulations. Collaborate with external vendors to integrate transient analysis approaches into operator-facing reactor simulators. Qualifications and SkillsWe’re looking for candidates with the following:
A Master’s degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) with a focus on nuclear systems. 3-7 years’ experience in nuclear systems thermal-hydraulic analysis and transient safety evaluations. Hands-on expertise with nuclear systems codes such as RELAP, SASSYS, GOTHIC, SAM, PRONGHORN, or MELCORE. A strong understanding of nuclear system fundamentals, including thermal hydraulics, neutronics, dynamics, and transient behavior. Proven ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary engineering team. Preferred Experience Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) analysis expertise is a significant advantage. Familiarity with fast spectrum reactor designs and transient behaviors. Knowledge of nuclear design, regulatory requirements, and risk-informed performance-based approaches (e.g., NEI-18-04). Experience connecting operator simulators with numerical solvers for nuclear transients. Physical and Work Conditions Ability to sit for extended periods, perform fine motor tasks, and lift up to 25 pounds. Standard office or remote working environment with occasional travel (10-20%). Why Join Us?This is your chance to work on one of the most advanced and innovative nuclear reactor projects in the industry. If you’re eager to tackle technical challenges, collaborate with experts, and shape the future of nuclear safety, we want to hear from you!
