HDR is looking for a Transit Civil EIT to join our Southern California Transportation group to support the design and/or planning of public transportation projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working on rail transit projects in Southern California. The successful candidate shall demonstrate basic knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local standards and requirements and have an understanding of project delivery processes for various phases of project development from conceptual design to design support during construction.
In the role of Transit Civil EIT, we'll count on you to:Support Rail Project Managers and Engineers to develop track and civil design plans, specifications, and cost estimatesTake responsibility for civil and track engineering assignments, including drainage, structural and utilities tasksDevelop design criteria, project guides, project meeting notes, and project controls while supporting Project ManagerWork independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projectsGive direction to clerical and technical personnel as neededPerform other duties as neededPreferred QualificationsPrefer basic knowledge of InRoads/InRail, OpenRailDesigner, and/or Civil3DExperience with InRoads/InRail, OpenRail Designer, and/or Civil3DExperience with 3D modeling2 years of experience in rail/transportation designCandidates hired without their EIT will be called a Rail Transit Designer and expected to obtain EIT for career progressionStrong organizational and time management skills with ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneouslyLocal candidates preferredRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil EngineeringEngineer in Training (EIT) certificate.Basic knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCADMS Office Applications experienceStrong interest in railroad designAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
