HDR is looking for a Transit EIT to join our North Carolina Transportation Business Group to manage and support the design and/or planning of public transportation projects. The individual in this position will lead and support multi-disciplinary transit projects that may include Bus, Bus Rapid Transit, Streetcar, or transit support facilities. The primary responsibilities include the project management, support, and design oversight of transit service, vehicle and transit maintenance facilities, transit stations and centers, and bus terminals. The candidate is expected to be knowledgeable of the transit industry, client programs, and experience managing multi-disciplinary project deliverables.

In the role of Transit EIT, we'll count on you to:

Assist the Senior Engineer with site studies, site designs, contract documentation preparation and graphic presentationPerform overall site layout, grading, utility layout and drainagePerform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and proceduresComplete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variablesPerform administrative duties associated with project management for civil/site projectsWork independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projectsPerform other duties as neededAssist clients in the day-to-day project management activities of design, funding, construction and project control related to bus rapid transit projects; responsible for general project administration including Document Controls, Procurement, DBE/ADA Civil Rights, Project Controls and Risk Management.Ability to plan, organize, and manage capital project scopes, schedules, and budgetsParticipate in reviews and concept/design meetings with various clients and architectsConduct work sessions for design developmentIndependently coordinate the work of the site and structural design teams through the design development and contract document phases of a project.Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various groups for code and agency compliance.Implement QA/QC proceduresOther design tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or related fieldEngineer in Training (EIT) certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of Transit Designer and expected to obtain their EIT certification for career progression.Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel and Word, AutoCAD, MicroStation a plusStrong written and verbal communication skills
