WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Transit Program Principal Construction Manager** . **This position will be required to sit in office 3-5 days a week in Seattle-WA** . Be involved in projects with our Transportation Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
This role has been created to support some of the recent project wins and on-going pursuits in the Seattle transit and transportation market. This role manages, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of projects to drive delivery according to the project schedule, and serves as the single point of accountability for maintaining schedule, budget, risk, and quality for project –in preparation for handover. This role represents the Client and WSP Program Leadership’s Construction Management (CM) Division during planning, design, and pre-construction project phases; manages the activities of assigned construction management staff; and solves construction, design, and facilities related issues associated with design and construction of the organization’s facilities. The Principal Construction Manager retains and manages the services of construction management consultants (CMC); coordinates assigned activities with other programs, divisions, Departments/Offices, and outside agencies; and provides highly responsible and complex construction-related administrative support to the Client and WSP leadership, and others as assigned.
This position is contingent upon client approval, meaning that employment will be confirmed once our client has reviewed and approved the selected candidate.
Your Impact
+ Single point accountable for maintaining schedule, budget, risk, and quality for their Area – in preparation for handover (to the track Area or to operations).
+ Be responsible for the delivery of $300 million to $1.5 billion of construction contract scope.
+ Authority for contract change within their Area.
+ Consult with Design Managers and Design Coordinator on any configuration changes or modifications to design requirements that affect scope, schedule, and/or budget within their Area.
+ Responsible for coordination with other project managers/area principal construction managers on all interfaces.
+ Serves as the interface between various programmatic projects to work together to plan and coordinate the work to be completed by each side.
+ Responsible for ensuring coordination on all interfaces within their Area.
+ In design, responsible to plan for construction, ensuring contract packages make sense in terms of content and timing to result in a high-quality end-product.
+ Responsible for project-level reporting to enable consolidated program reporting.
+ Serve as point of coordination for all applicable contract managers within that Area.
+ Interface with other project leadership for multiple programmatic projects for consistency.
+ Work with the contractor as major claims, issues occur.
+ Responsible for major commercial issues and schedule issue resolution.
+ Manage the CMCs – identifying where we need additional support.
Who You Are
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or closely related field.
+ 20+ years’ experience in transit rail design and construction with demonstrated experience in construction/project management on projects of similar scope, scale, complexity, and budget; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Recent demonstrated experience working on projects utilizing various delivery methods including design-bid-build, GCCM, design-build and/or progressive design-build.
+ Strong understanding of the key stakeholders involved in operational rail environments.
+ Experience in workshop facilitation and coordination to resolve complex technical challenges.
+ 7+ years of project leadership including budgetary, planning and workforce management experience, preferably in a transit/transportation related environment.
+ Valid state driver’s license.
+ Based in, or able to relocate, to the greater Puget Sound area.
+ Ability to work in offices for a minimum of 3 days a week.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
+ Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as required by project needs.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Registered as a Professional Civil Engineer issued by the State of Washington
+ Certified Construction Manager issued by the Construction Management Certification Institute, and/or
+ Registration as professional engineer in another U.S. State
+ Certification as a Project Management Professional by the Project Management Institute.
+ Experience with high voltage transmission line and utility construction and/or relocations, the construction staging, phasing, and scheduling involved to perform these activities, and understanding of interface with roadway, railway, and transit operations.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $179,000 - $300,410
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
