Job Description
We are seeking a talented engineer to support high-time-in-service (HTIS) quality projects using DFSS and 8D processes. This role focuses on evaluating high warranty spend and failure rate subsystems, analyzing warranty data, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to reduce warranty spend and failure rates.
ResponsibilitiesRapidly work through DFSS phases: Define, Characterize, Optimize, and Verify including root cause identification and verification.Evaluate high warranty spend/failure rate subsystems focusing on design-related issues, supplier quality, or manufacturing defects.Analyze warranty data/trends and part returns to identify root causes.Identify and verify root causes, implement corrective actions (ICA/PCA), and prevent recurrence.Design, execute, or coordinate analytical and physical testing from component bench level to full powertrain/vehicle testing to identify root causes, replicate quality issues, and validate corrective actions.Report project status and results to management and interface regularly with quality and core engineers.Develop relationships with dealerships and fleets to quickly resolve quality issues related to warranty and repairs.Understand different types of repairs, set up work plans, follow-up, and aggressively reduce timelines to fix issues.Lead and attend team meetings.Document lessons learned for knowledge preservation.Proactively follow through on responsible activities along with required documentation to meet milestones and deliverables.Essential SkillsWarranty and failure mode analysis.Experience working on customer concerns and resolutions (problem-solving).Automotive powertrain experience/knowledge.Project management skills.Additional Skills & Qualifications2+ years for Intermediate or 5+ years for Senior level.Demonstrated automotive experience with detail-oriented focus in powertrain engineering, warranty, and manufacturing.Experience working with warranty issues and failure mode analysis.Worked in resolving customer concerns in a timely manner.Experience in quality improvement projects using DFSS, 8D, or other Six Sigma processes.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for presentations and project tracking activities.Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field.Work Environment
The role involves working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, focusing on quality improvement and problem resolution. You will interact regularly with dealerships, fleets, quality and core engineers, and management. The position requires analytical testing from component bench level to full powertrain/vehicle testing.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.00 - $44.50/hr.
