Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Remote Transmission Line Engineer to join our Transmission Line Engineering Department. The successful candidate will complete projects that support our large utility customer with minimal direction. You will collaborate with in-house and client engineers, as well as graphics technicians, to ensure the successful completion of transmission line projects. The Lead Engineer will oversee a small department of Transmission Line Engineers and will also coordinate and conduct training for lower-level engineers.
ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the engineering and design activities related to transmission line design, including engineering analysis and design, route selection, material acquisition, structural and foundation design, and project and construction management.Prepare project construction documents such as plan and profile drawings, design drawings, engineering, material, and construction specifications, project schedules, and bills of material.Develop project design alternatives and corresponding cost estimates.Design new transmission facilities with voltages ranging from 12 kV to 765 kV.Utilize PLS-CADD to model transmission line design projects.Conduct contractor bid and construction meetings and assist in ensuring that work activities are performed safely and in accordance with plans, established schedules, company policies, rules, and standards, and in compliance with external regulations.Coordinate effectively with governmental and regulatory agencies and contractors to secure project permits.Provide leadership to facilitate project completion, train and mentor other engineers, and develop measurable work area goals and objectives.Function as a project lead for transmission projects.Coordinate work activities of others within the work group and department to complete transmission projects.Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees.Initiate corrective action when substation project objectives are not being met.Work under supervision of higher-level engineers.Perform occasional site visits.Essential SkillsTransmission Line DesignDesign EngineeringProject ScopingUtility OperationsHigh Voltage (HV) DesignPLS-CADD ProficiencyMinimum two years of experience in transmission line engineeringAdditional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited)A PE License is desirable but not requiredWork Environment
This position can be remote but will require travel at least once a month. If local, you will be required to work on-site. The role involves occasional site visits and collaboration with both in-house and client engineers, and graphics technicians.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.46 - $57.69
