Job Title: Transmission Line Engineer
Job Description

The position falls within the transmission department of the organization. The engineer will be working with senior engineers to complete projects that support our utility customer, collaborating with both in-house and client engineers and designers.

ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the engineering and design activities related to transmission line design such as engineering analysis and design, route selection, material acquisition, structural and foundation design, and project and construction managementPrepare project construction documents such as: plan and profile drawings; design drawings; engineering, material, and construction specifications; project schedules and bills of materialDevelop project design alternatives and corresponding cost estimatesDesign new transmission facilities with voltages ranging from 12 kV to 765 kVUtilize PLS-CADD to model transmission line design projectsConduct contractor bid and construction meetings and assist in ensuring that work activities are performed safely and in accordance with plans and established schedules, AEP policies, rules, standards, and compliance with external regulationsCoordinate effectively with governmental and regulatory agencies and contractors to secure project permitsProvide leadership to facilitate project completion, train and mentor other engineers, and develop measurable work area goals and objectivesFunction as a project lead for transmission projectsCoordinate work activities of others within the work group and department to complete transmission projectsProvide training and guidance to lower-level employeesInitiate corrective action when substation project objectives are not being metWork under supervision of higher-level engineersPosition will require occasional site visitsEssential SkillsMinimum two years of experience in transmission line engineeringBachelor’s Degree in Civil or Electrical EngineeringProficiency in PLS-CADDExperience with high voltage (HV) and extra high voltage (EHV) transmission line designAdditional Skills & QualificationsA PE License is desirable but not requiredWork Environment

The office is an engineering office environment that is quiet in nature. The dress code is business casual. Teamwork is highly encouraged and happens frequently.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.67 - $55.29/hr.
