Job Description

This position falls within the Transmission Line Engineering Department of our organization. The successful engineer will complete projects that support our large utility customer with minimal direction. The engineer will work with in-house and client engineers, and graphics technicians. The Lead Engineer will oversee a small department of Transmission Line Engineers and will also coordinate and conduct training for lower-level engineers.

ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the engineering and design activities related to Transmission Line Engineering such as engineering analysis and design, route selection, material acquisition, structural and foundation design, and project and construction management.Prepare project construction documents such as: plan and profile drawings, design drawings, engineering, material, and construction specifications, project schedules and bills of material.Develop project design alternatives and corresponding cost estimates.Design new transmission line facilities with voltages ranging between 69 kV and 765 kV.Utilize PLS-CADD to model transmission line design projects.Attend contractor bid and construction meetings and assist in ensuring that work activities are performed safely and in accordance with plans and established schedules, and in accordance with policies, rules, and standards, and in compliance with external regulations.Coordinate effectively with governmental and regulatory agencies and contractors.Provide leadership to facilitate project completion, to train and mentor other engineers, and to develop measurable work area goals and objectives.Function as an engineering project lead for transmission projects.Lead, facilitate, and coordinate work activities of others within the work group, team, department, or external entities to complete transmission projects.Provide training and guidance to lower level employees.Identify and initiate corrective action when transmission line project objectives are not being met.Interpret codes and regulations and develop standards for construction projects.Promote engineering professionalism and standards.Develop, recommend, and implement plans by establishing goals, objectives, and requirements that include all scheduling, resources, and information for complex engineering.Position will require occasional travel for site visits (10%).Essential SkillsAt least three to five years of experience in utilities working with Transmission Line Design.At least three to five years of experience completing engineering projects from start to finish.At least three to five years of experience scoping, estimating, and ordering materials for Transmission Lines projects.Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering.Proficiency in Transmission Line Design and PLS-CADD.Experience with high voltage transmission line design projects.Additional Skills & QualificationsA PE License is desirable but not required.Work Environment

The office is an engineering office environment that is quiet in nature. The dress code is business casual. Teamwork is highly encouraged and happens frequently.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $45.67/hr.
