Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Transmission Line Engineer III to independently perform engineering analyses, plans & specifications, as well as material procurement and construction documents. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in the design of high voltage overhead (OH) Transmission Line projects, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure spotting, structural analysis and design, foundation design, hardware selection, material specifications, and technical support during construction. The candidate should enjoy working in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects and demonstrate the ability to work with limited supervision and guidance to execute and meet multiple project commitments.

ResponsibilitiesIndependently perform engineering analyses, plans & specifications, material procurement, and construction documents.Demonstrate basic knowledge in the use of PLS-CADD.Design high voltage OH Transmission Line projects, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure spotting, structural analysis and design, foundation design, hardware selection, material specifications, and technical support during construction.Plan and design overhead transmission lines, including right of way requirements, structure spotting, line configurations, hardware requirements, structure alternatives, and foundation options.Prepare and review design documents for construction, including plan & profiles, structure load tree drawings, structure framing, bill of materials, and foundation design drawings.Understand and interpret geotechnical reports and extrapolate information needed for foundation design software including L-PILE and MFAD.Design projects under the mentoring and training of senior licensed professionals.Understand client interests and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work.Work with limited supervision and guidance to execute and meet multiple project commitments.Meet schedule and quality requirements.Skills & QualificationsBasic knowledge and understanding of NESC, ASCE, and IEEE standards.Proficiency with AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, MFAD, Vibrec, Vortx, L-Pile.Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural/Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.3+ years of relevant experience as a Transmission Line Engineer in consulting or utility environment.Experience with NESC, ASCE, and IEEE standards.Ability to understand and interpret geotechnical reports.P.E. License is required or E.I.T. in process to become licensed. Work EnvironmentThis is a hybrid work environment with offices in Philadelphia, Orlando, Denver, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Minneapolis.The engineer will partner with engineers, drafters/designers, and project managers.This engineer will also be responsible for mentoring and training entry and junior level engineers.The role offers the opportunity to work for a growing team and support various utilities on a variety of projects, including IOUs, municipalities, and renewable energy clients.About Actalent
