HDR Engineering is currently seeking a Transmission Line Engineering Manager to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals.

Primary Responsibilities

As a Transmission Line Engineering Manager (EM) in a well-established Power Delivery practice, you’ll draw upon your broad technical knowledge and experience in design and construction of high voltage Transmission Line projects to lead, guide, and advise clients, projects, and teams. Having previously performed a leading technical role on increasingly complex transmission line projects, you’ll be ready to undertake greater challenges and responsibilities. You will develop a partnership with the Project Manager (PM), whereas the PM is responsible for scope, schedule, budget, and overall client management, you will be responsible for technical execution of the project. Note that a qualified part time candidate will be considered as well as full time candidates.

As a Transmission Line Engineering Manager your role will encompass the following:

Leveraging technical experience and expertise while working in close coordination with a PM, to manage and execute the engineering and design components of transmission projects.

Developing and implementing a project execution plan for the technical aspect of transmission projects.

Working independently and/or directing, mentoring, training, and/or supervising one or more Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD technicians and administrative staff.

Supporting the technical aspect of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development and implementation, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management.

Coordinating and/or leading the QA/QC process on projects per HDR’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements with a commitment to delivering world class quality.

Performing quality checks and/or reviews of projects from other teams as needed.

Participating in project reviews as needed.

At times, leading multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.

Working with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise and attending training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to the transmission industry.

At times, assisting with development of technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR’s technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural considered)

· 10 years of transmission line engineering experience in the electric utility and/or renewables industry.

· Transmission line design experience using PLS-CADD, steel and wood transmission structure analysis/design, foundation design, material procurement, specifications, and construction support.

· Exposure to transmission line siting/routing, environmental permitting and right of way acquisition.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

· Master's degree a plus.

· PE license preferred.

· Distribution line design and/or steel lattice tower modeling and design experience a plus.

· Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams; regional, department, and technical managers; and project staff preferred.

· Experience working with Renewables developers and/or the interconnection of Renewables a plus.

The expected compensation range for this position is $87,000- $152,800 annually/hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.)
