The Transmission Line Engineering Manager (EM) has broad technical knowledge and experience with design and construction of high voltage Transmission Line projects and programs up to 500kV. Leveraging that knowledge and experience, they are responsible for the technical oversight, mentorship, and direction of engineering teams executing either a portfolio of projects within a program or a mix of multiple individual projects for multiple clients. They work in close coordination with program managers, project managers, client managers, and/or project teams to execute the engineering and design components of projects. The EM is an experienced, competent engineer who understands the technical requirements of transmission line projects of any complexity and can lead, guide, and advise clients, programs, projects, and teams.

In the role of Transmission Line Engineering Manager, we'll count on you to:

Partner with program managers and/or project managers to plan, direct, and monitor project teams executing all technical transmission line engineering aspects of projects within a program or for multiple clientsLead, support, and/or oversee the development and implementation of project execution plans and quality plans for programs or clients, including performing regular audits with action items for additional training as neededEnsure project teams have access to client and program technical standards and preferences and that project teams are adequately informed and trained on implementation of those standardsCoordinate with program and project managers to advise and support clients on technical mattersMonitor technical resources assigned to programs or projects and workload forecasts and coordinate with operations leadership in multiple offices to address staffing concernsSupport the coordination and interface with Engineering Managers of other technical discipline leads within programs or on individual projectsMentor, train, and support Project Engineers in multiple offices on the technical aspect of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development and implementation, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, and change, quality, and schedule managementAbility to lead multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locationsIn conjunction with program or project managers, responsible for overall quality and technical accuracy of design aspects of programs or projectsIn conjunction with program or project managers, support the technical aspects of pursuit or proposal processesMay also assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR’s technical capabilities at industry conferences or other eventsCoordination and participation with internal development and implementation of design standards and best practicesParticipates in quality control or project reviews as needed

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in Engineering· Previous experience with an engineering consulting firmProficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (examples include PLS Software Suite, AutoCAD LPile, and MFAD)Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in EngineeringA minimum of 10 years experienceProfessional registration, license or certification may be required based on roleStrong communication and listening skillsAbility to handle multiple assignmentsGood leadership and organizational skillsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
