Job Description
This position is responsible for the management of design for assigned transmission generation tie lines for Wind, Solar, and Battery Energy Storage, and for stand-alone transmission line projects. The Transmission Line Principal Engineer works in the Engineering & Construction (E&C) Group and manages the design of transmission line projects from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution).
ResponsibilitiesManage the design of transmission line projects from conception through construction and commissioning.Collaborate with engineering consultants under the direction of the Transmission Line Principal Engineer, as the company does not self-perform design.Define and influence project requirements and scope with the Development Group during the conceptual phase.Secure engineering consulting resources from approved suppliers by developing scopes of work, securing bids, evaluating, and awarding work through the Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Group.Coordinate with project stakeholders to develop and secure routes, support engineering data, and obtain necessary permits for design and construction, including geotechnical and lidar data.Competitively source, select, and contract geotechnical, survey, engineering, and construction services, and support the E&C Cost Estimating Team with scope assumptions.Coordinate the preparation and delivery of engineering deliverables in support of competitive proposals and project execution, including Issued for Bid, Issued for Procurement, Issued for Construction, and As-built drawings, design criteria, and proposal documents (RFP).Represent E&C's interests internally and externally on assigned projects, including presenting progress, issues, and risk mitigation in meetings with various levels of management.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering.Minimum of 7 years of direct experience in the development, design, engineering, and construction of High Voltage Transmission line projects.Strong knowledge of transmission design, excellent communication and project management skills, a bias for action, proven analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to provide value engineering and ensure design quality.Technical competence to understand one line and three-line diagrams, general arrangements, plan and profiles, and other common deliverables.Proficiency with industry tools such as PLSCADD, Microsoft products, AutoCAD, and Primavera.Project Engineering and/or Project Management experience.Additional Skills & QualificationsPMP and/or P.E. in a related discipline is a plus.Work Environment
Corporate work environment with travel to Juno Beach. The position is open for remote candidates, with travel required within North America as needed.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $70.00
