To learn more about working at the SFPUC, visit our career site at https://www.sfpuc.org/about-us/careers-sfpuc Project: Transmission & Distribution Fire Mitigation Project Under direction, supervises the maintenance and repair of high voltage overhead transmission, distribution lines, substations and switchyards; and performs related duties as required. Requires considerable responsibility for: interpreting and instructing on existing methods and procedures relative to transmission line construction and maintenance and repair activities; making occasional contacts with other departmental personnel and the general public on line construction, maintenance, and repair problems; gathering and preparing time and material reports on work performed. 1. Lays out, assigns, and supervises subordinate personnel engaged in construction, installation, maintenance and repair of high voltage overhead transmission lines and distribution appurtenances. 2. Assures that all safety precautions, tools and equipment are in use when necessary to perform maintenance and repair work on energized lines. 3. Supervises the washing of insulators, the cleaning of poles and transmission towers. 4. Supervises the inspection and patrolling of transmission lines, distribution lines and clearance of right-of-way obstructions. 5. Supervises the inspection and maintenance of switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers and other auxiliary equipment for proper operation and condition. 6. Prepares records and reports of time worked, work performed, materials and supplies utilized on various projects. 7. Assists in the development and advancement of subordinates through training and effective use of employee development programs. Nature of work: Requires considerable physical effort and manual dexterity with frequent exposure to inclement weather and serious accident hazards. Reporting Location:  Moccasin, CA is located 140 miles east of the San Francisco Bay Area and requires a 5- hour round trip commute by car in fair weather. Education: Completion of High School, AND Experience: Six (6) years of journeyman level experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead transmission systems, including two (2) years of supervisory experience; AND License: Possession of a valid California driver’s license. NOTE: Positions located in Moccasin and Oakdale require a Class A driver’s license within 6 months of appointment.
