The Transplant Administrator has the responsibility to provide daily oversight of operations, leadership, operational and capital budgets, and direction to the managers and staff for the Abdominal Organ Transplant Program.  The Administrator oversees the daily transplantation services to ensure that is patient-centric and delivers cost-effective, high-quality outcomes while maintaining positive community relations. The Administrator is responsible for achieving outcomes consistent with the organizational mission, philosophy, goals, and meets/exceeds all regulatory requirements and objectives of the Abdominal Organ Transplant Program. The Administrator must maintain professional competency in the application of the principles of management, promote a safe environment, and perform all related job responsibilities in a safe and effective manner.

Essential Job Functions

Works in conjunction with Program/Medical Directors and Administration in the development, implementation and administration of policies and procedures to achieve short- and long-range goals and objectives for all programs.

Manages the development and execution of clinical, educational, administrative, and quality initiatives/projects to improve patient care quality and ensure patient safety.

Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, i.e., OPTN, CMS, and state.

Develops and coordinates with marketing to meet the goals and objectives of the transplant programs.

Develops brochures and written materials, coordinates the development of displays and exhibits, and attends conventions and conferences to market programs.

Develops and implements transplant programs by: - Advising the hospital on program changes. - Benchmarking programs with national standards. - Develops and implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance.  - Working with medical and surgical directors associated with the program to establish clinical protocols - Coordinating the implementation and evaluation of special procedures and testing with other departments. - Tracking and evaluating expenses and reimbursement for program services. - Monitors programs to ensure successful implementation and recommend modifications as required.

Identifies educational needs of departments supporting the transplant programs and recommends, provides, and/or facilitates in-service programs to increase awareness of transplant programs, policies, procedures, and other pertinent information.

Serves as liaison with professional and community organizations by serving on boards and committees, attending meetings, making presentations, and participating in other activities as required.

Designs, implements, and evaluates clinical and financial managed care agreements with insurance providers for Centers of Excellence of Transplant Programs.

Directs activities related to research projects by: - identifying and reviewing recommendations for research projects. - participating in developing funding for projects. - coordinating the implementation of projects. - coordinating with external parties involved in clinical trials on campus. - coordinating with the Institutional Review Board on approval, review and oversight of clinical research.

Licensing/Certification

RN, MBA, or Allied health professional with 3-5 years of transplant administration experience

Education

Masters required in one of the following: Nursing, MBA, MHA or related field

Work Experience

3 - 5 years in a solid organ transplant program
