The University of Miami UMHC-Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center has an exciting opportunity for a Stem Cell Clinical Pharmacy Manager.
SUMMARY
The Stem Cell Clinical Pharmacy Manager is responsible for coordinating hematopoietic stem cell transplant related clinical pharmacy services, ensuring that the pharmacy provides optimal clinical services daily. The manager will facilitate the development, implementation, maintenance of stem cell process’ and stem cell clinical pharmacists to promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe cost-effective drug therapies. These functions shall be carried out in accordance with all state/federal laws, JCAHO Standards, and hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Effectively plans and designs stem cell clinical services that reflect the vision, mission, and values of University of Miami Hospital and Clinics/Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Effectively manages by planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling stem cell related pharmacy clinical programs to provide efficient and effective systems.
Manages medication use processes including prescribing, dispensing, administering and monitoring patient’s outcomes.
Actively participates in developing strategies to ensure optimal usage of the hospital’s pharmaceutical resources.
Coordinates medication usage evaluation program.
Assist with stem cell related medication event reporting and investigations.
Educates and evaluates competency of appropriate personnel.
Effectively communicates with internal and external customers.
Coordinates the maintenance of the hospital formulary system related to stem cell services.
Assists with cost-containment reports on a as needed basis related to stem cell transplant service line.
Evaluate and monitor utilization and expenditures of stem cell related non-formulary and high expenditure medications.
Maintains professional competency sufficient to meet current and future needs of the facility.
Directs and coordinates the activities of pharmacy students and residents assigned to stem cell transplant.
Interacts daily with other members of the health care team in order to contribute to the highest degree of patient care available.
Performs daily clinical rounds in the appropriate units to optimize drug therapy.
Coordinates the provision of drug information service.
Coordinates stem cell transplant related materials for Hem/Onc Pharmacy & Therapeutics and Medication Events Committee meetings.
Establishes pharmacy clinical goals and objectives and assumes a leadership role for implementations related to stem cell transplant.
Directs and provides in-service education for hospital and pharmacy staff for stem cell transplant related activities.
Develops and implements stem cell transplant quality assurance programs as needed for clinical services.
Meets or exceeds all regulations, statures, FACT, and JCAHO standards. Complies with findings in a timely manner.
Acts as a liaison between pharmacy and IT related to order set and treatment plan creation/optimization.
Oversees the management for transitions of care
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy, with a minimum of a Doctor of Pharmacy degree or grandfathered in bachelor degree in pharmacy or graduate of a foreign school of pharmacy and successfully completed the foreign pharmacist equivalence exam.
Valid State of Florida Pharmacist license.
Completion of a PGY-1 pharmacy residency program.
Completion of a 1-year specialty residency or fellowship in oncology plus 3-5 years of Oncology clinical pharmacy services.
