Job DescriptionThe person is responsible for directing and controlling ground transportation activities for industrial sites in the Province of Quebec and will be responsible for managing a team of 6 supervisors, the teams responsible for balance activities (receiving and shipping) for the Montreal, Laval, Lévis, Quebec City and Ottawa sites and 150 drivers throughout the province of Quebec. She will be responsible for enforcing safety laws and regulations and compliance with transportation and government regulations (SAAQ & CSR) and ensuring the application of the best practices of the transportation industry.
In addition, the selected person will have to collaborate with various stakeholders in the day-to-day management of operations to ensure compliance, road safety, health and safety, quality of customer service, and will work closely with the Senior Director of Transportation to identify opportunities that will improve the efficiency of all operations.
Act as a logistics advisor to the organization.Analyze the performance indicators in place and work on improvement projects related to the achievement of these indicators.Be a reference for your team in personnel management, and lead your team to surpass themselves by achieving their goal.Analyze the efficiency and optimization of movements, routes and weekly management of drivers.Seek and take the necessary steps to achieve continuous improvement in costs and operating methods.Ensure that the teams in place communicate with all internal stakeholders, including buyers, suppliers, customers and other dispatchers, to organize the collection and delivery of scrap metal in a safe, efficient and timely manner. Review the ground transportation network and find new ways to maximize the volume and weight of products transported while minimizing operating costs.Ensure that transportation-related equipment (tractors and trailers) are properly used, maintained and repaired in a timely manner and that record keeping complies with the requirements of the Ministère des Transports du Québec.Ensure that independent truck drivers follow company guidelines and that all transportation and rental contracts as well as insurance documentation are kept up to date and kept in an organized mannerHold regular meetings with independent drivers to discuss complaints, raise concerns, and maintain supportive relationships.Ensure that the company's drivers comply with the regulations of the Ministère des Transports du Québec and that records are kept in accordance with these regulations.Hold periodic safety meetings with the company's drivers in collaboration with the Compliance, Road Safety and Health & Safety teams.Implement special projects or perform other duties not mentioned above as directed by management.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Logistics or Business Administration;10 years of management experience in the transportation industry;Computer knowledge and knowledge of ELD (electronic logging device) systemsYou are a team manager and a good mobilizing communicator;You are customer service oriented and have a strong sense of results;You are organized, analytical and pragmatic;You are recognized for your sense of negotiation and conflict managementYou are perfectly bilingual (French and English) spoken and written;You are able to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships and maintain a level of professionalism at all times;Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
