Transport Officer

**Job Purpose or Objective(s):** The Public Safety Transport Officer is responsible for the safe transport and monitoring of offenders to court appearances and medical appointments. You will report to the Correctional Manager.
**Payrate: $25.69 per hour | Hourly, Full Time | Schedule and Hours: 7:00am to 5:30pm Saturday, Sunday, and Monday OFF. Hours may vary upon business demand | Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays. | WEEKLY EARNED WAGE ACCESS IS AN OPTION FOR THIS POSITION |**
**Primary Tasks:**
1. You will transport individuals, documentation, or materials between multiple locations (i.e. moves prisoners or others between detention facilities, jails, courts, and treatment facility) Maintain logs/records of transport activities.
2. Perform physical searches and verify the identity of persons in custody. Secure prisoner's personal property.
3. Monitor activities and behavior of prisoners during transport and while in custody. Maintain discipline of prisoners. May require verbal or physical means to restrain violent or combative prisoners.
4. Remove prisoners from holding areas following established security procedures and secure prisoners within appropriate areas at destinations. Escorts/accompany prisoners within facilities, in courtrooms or during meetings. Returns in-custody prisoners to other local holding facilities.
5. You will assist bailiff's and judges in maintaining order of inmates in the custody of the courtrooms.
6. Prepare, maintains, reviews and process several reports and documentation such as booking documents, transport logs, court minutes, prisoner housing billings.
7. Provide prisoner care by ensuring cleanliness and safety of holding areas and transport van, ordering meals.
8. Perform CPR/first aid or obtaining medical assistance for ill or injured prisoners.
9. Process prisoners release from jail.
10. Perform other tasks as assigned or required.
**Requirements:**
+ High School Diploma or GED required
+ Must obtain CLEET certification within one year
+ At least of 21 years of age.
+ Must be medically fit and able to perform all the essential functions of a Security Officer and pass a physical fitness test.
+ Must possess a valid state driver's license.
+ Basic Computer skills to enable report writing, composition or correspondence, Internet, and email.
+ Ability to reason and react calmly and quickly in emergency and life-threatening situations.
+ Ability to reason logically and make sound decisions.
+ Ability to work effectively and efficiently in high stress and conflict situations.
+ Ability to exercise independent judgment and make logical decisions.
+ Able to qualify yearly with department firearms.
