TRANSPORTATION ANALYST (NHTSA):

 

Bowhead seeks a Transportation Analyst to support the National Highway traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)in Washington, DC. This position requires in-depth knowledge at a comprehensive professional level, of the application of engineering theories, techniques and methods to the gathering, classification, and interpretation of analytical information. For an engineer II, the position requires extensive knowledge of motor vehicle transportation related areas of research and engineering. A demonstrated skill in oral and written communication is required. A demonstrated skill in development of analysis plans; research report review; assimilation, aggregation; analysis of evolving technologies enabling modern motor vehicle safety capabilities and in the development of presentations and technical reports. Must have proficiency with the use various types of databases and spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Access and Excel. Must also exhibit excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

 

Working as a team, will perform analysis on various car seats following standard proceduresDocument the test and findings accurately using ExcelWill be required to communicate all tests, notes and ratings both in writing and orallyMay be called upon to discuss discrepancies or inconsistencies in any findings or test proceduresOther duties as assigned Qualifications

 

Education (High School Diploma) & relevant professional experience is required.Child Passenger Safety Technician certification is required.Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint in addition to the visualization software listed above is required.Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team as well as having a high level of initiative and excellent attention to detail.

 

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend, and squat periodically

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level. A minimum of three (3) years US residency, or US Citizenship, is required for a Public Trust clearance at this location.
