Transportation Demand Management Coordinator | Hybrid - Palo Alto, CA | 12-Month Contract
A client in the Bay Area is seeking a Transportation Demand Management Coordinator to develop, implement, and manage programs that reduce congestion, promote sustainable transportation, and improve accessibility to alternative travel modes such as public transit, cycling, walking, carpooling, and telecommuting. The coordinator will collaborate with stakeholders, local transit agencies, and transportation service vendors to create strategies that enhance efficiency, reduce reliance on single-occupancy vehicles (SOVs), and decrease environmental impacts.
Responsibilities
Program Development & Implementation
+ Design and execute Transportation Demand Management (TDM) strategies that reduce parking demand and SOV usage.
+ Promote sustainable transportation options like public transit, carpooling, biking, walking, teleworking, and shared mobility services.
+ Develop educational programs, outreach campaigns, and events to raise awareness of alternative commuting options.
Stakeholder Engagement
+ Collaborate with local businesses, government agencies, and transportation service providers to support regional TDM initiatives.
+ Work with internal departments and leadership to incorporate TDM strategies into corporate sustainability plans.
+ Build relationships with public transit providers, cycling organizations, and advocacy groups to enhance commuting options.
Data Collection & Reporting
+ Conduct surveys and analyze commuting patterns to assess transportation needs and areas for improvement.
+ Track and evaluate TDM program effectiveness through performance metrics, data analysis, and reporting.
+ Utilize GIS software to create maps and visualize transportation data for planning purposes.
+ Prepare and present detailed reports and PowerPoint presentations on program outcomes, cost savings, and environmental benefits.
Policy Advocacy & Development
+ Assist in developing policies and procedures that encourage sustainable transportation choices.
+ Stay updated on local, regional, and national transportation policies and funding opportunities.
+ Advocate for transit-friendly development, congestion management, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
Event Planning & Promotion
+ Organize and lead transportation-related events such as bike-to-work days, carpool matching programs, and public transit fairs.
+ Create and distribute marketing materials (digital and print) to boost participation in TDM programs.
Requirements
Job Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Environmental Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
+ 2-3 years of experience in TDM, urban planning, or a related field.
+ Proficiency in PowerPoint for engaging presentations.
+ Experience with GIS software for transportation data analysis and visualization.
+ Strong organizational and project management skills.
+ Excellent communication and public speaking abilities for stakeholder engagement.
+ Ability to analyze transportation data and generate detailed reports.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with transportation modeling software (REMIX).
+ Civil engineering background.
+ Experience in corporate transportation planning.
Work Environment
+ Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite in Palo Alto, 2 days remote.
+ Office-based role with frequent in-person and virtual interactions with stakeholders.
+ Regular attendance at on-site and external events to coordinate TDM initiatives.
