Dewberry has an opportunity for an experienced Transportation Department Manager – Bridge & Tunnel and Highway groups in our Boston, MA office to lead this thriving department to winning and executing projects of increasing complexity. This is an excellent career opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented individual to lead a team of professionals. The successful candidate will manage a team of engineers conducting inspections and assessments of bridges/tunnels, designing new bridges, as well as bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects using AASHTO LRFD Specifications as well as the highway group on transportation projects. The selected person will be responsible for overseeing a team performing structural inspections, assessments and calculations, preparation of design and contract documents (including reports, engineer’s estimates and construction specifications), review of shop drawings and providing technical support during construction phase. Typical projects involve city and state clients in the transportation market. The selected individual will significantly contribute to the business development of the departments and office’s workload as well as client management of one or more public agencies.

Responsibilities Supervises a staff of Project managers, engineers and technicians.Plans, schedules, or coordinates inspections, reports, preparation of engineering documents and activities for multiple bridge projects as Project/Contract ManagerReviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.Partakes in personnel actions.Coordinates proactively and supports other departments and company offices to deliver projects.Business development and proposal writing and oversight; expected to manage one or more clients.Participates in alternative delivery pursuits. Required Skills & Required Experience BS in Engineering with 25+ years of highway design, bridge engineering and project managementMS Degree in an Engineering discipline or Business Management is desirableProfessional Engineers License in MA is required; Additional licensing in other New England states preferredExperience with MassDOT, MBTA, and local municipalities design proceduresExperience with client management for state and/or local municipalitiesExperience managing a department or team of professionalsStrong people skills
