Transportation Engineer
Job Title: Transportation EngineerJob Description

This position can sit in the following locations: Vienna, VA (Northern Virginia), Richmond, VA, Virginia Beach, VA. The role involves assisting in various aspects of transportation engineering projects under the supervision and guidance of a licensed Engineer (PE). The engineer will work on designing roadways, streetscapes, multimodal improvements, traffic improvements, traffic engineering and planning studies, and other associated infrastructure components. This position includes working in stand-alone and multi-discipline design teams, supervised by senior engineers and project managers on projects of small to medium scope.

ResponsibilitiesPerform various aspects of transportation design, including analysis and design involving interstates and interchanges, urban and rural roadways, multimodal improvements, traffic engineering, site grading, stormwater management, erosion control, and site plan preparation.Prepare programming documents, schematic documents, design development documents, and construction documents.Coordinate and communicate with design team members to ensure transportation design details integrate properly with the work of all other project disciplines.Prepare marketing and presentation materials.Perform transportation services associated with the bidding process, including preparing addenda and amendments and opening and tabulating bids.Perform transportation services associated with the construction phase, including field visits, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings.Comply with quality control policies and procedures.Participate in team meetings and coordinate efforts with other team members.Research standards and specifications based on project requirements.Work with, respond to, and take direction from Senior Transportation Engineers, Project Managers, and Design Managers.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering, or Civil Engineering Technology.1-5+ years of transportation engineering experience, including designing roadways and associated infrastructure, development of manual calculations and analytical models for transportation analysis and design purposes, development of construction documents (drawings and specifications), and coordination with other design team members.Working familiarity with design and production software (e.g., GeoPak, Civil 3D, Microstation, AutoCAD).Experience with traffic operations, microsimulation, and travel demand forecasting is a plus.Working knowledge of traffic engineering programs such as VISSIM, Synchro, and Transmodeler is a plus but not required.Work Environment

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $50.48/hr.
