This position with NCDOT offers fullState Benefits (https://oshr.nc.gov/state-employee-resources/benefits) , competitive salaries and many career development opportunities.
This position serves as a Senior Program Engineer in the Eastern Region of the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) Unit. The STIP Unit is responsible for the scheduling and funding of projects in the State’s $4 billion per year transportation capital improvement program. This 10-year capital improvement program, known as the STIP, includes all 6 modes of transportation the Department is responsible for (highway, rail, public transportation, bike/ped, aviation, and ferry). Personnel in the three STIP Regions (East, Central, and West) use the results of the Strategic Prioritization (SPOT) process to select projects for programming and must ensure the program meets all applicable state and federal requirements. This work results in the biennial production of NC’s STIP. The three STIP regions are also responsible for maintaining accurate costs and schedules for projects programmed in the STIP as projects move through the development process.
This position is responsible for assisting the STIP Eastern Region Manager with the development and management of the STIP in accordance with state and federal statutes, regulations, and policies. This includes programming of projects, tracking schedules, and updating costs for projects across all modes of transportation.
