We are seeking a Transportation Engineer/Planner in our Toronto office to play a key role in Eglinton Crosstown West Extension project and to support in developing and growing our team and capabilities in Canada! Work with clients and partners, build impactful reports and presentations, mentor junior colleagues, lead projects and initiatives, coordinate engineering tasks, and manage engineering projects.
The initial term will be passionate about the Elevated Guideway contract of ECWE but will evolve over time based on individual career goals, ambitions, ongoing projects, and emerging opportunities!
The opportunity
Engaging with clients and partners to acquire approvals and help design our cities Writing reports and proposals that are clear, concise, and persuasive Actively contributing to our continuous improvement processes Establishing and maintaining connections with professional colleagues and prospective clients Developing traffic impact studies/assessments, traffic signal designs, construction traffic management, complete street designs, and supporting analyses (simulations, reports, drawings, etc.) Preparing various analyses including intersection capacity analysis, signal warrant analysis, hazard analyses, transportation safety analysis, swept path analysis, sight line analysis, weaving analysis Preparing designs including intersection geometric design, signage and line marking drawings, traffic control plans (construction), traffic signal design, site plans (including parking, loading and circulation)You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role right for you?
Completion of a degree in engineering or planning or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent P.Eng. with PEO or ability to acquire license within one year is considered as asset 2+ years relevant professional experience including strong experience in the GTHA Clear and persuasive communications in English including verbal, written, presentations, etc. Understanding and application experience of transportation planning, traffic engineering, traffic signal design, traffic safety, intersection capacity analysis Experience with Synchro, Experience with VISSIM, Aimsun, EMME is considered as asset. Applied knowledge of published mentorship from national (TAC/TC), provincial (MTO/OTM) and municipal (Cities, Regional Municipalities, etc.) governments and associations Working knowledge of legislation and associated regulations that govern your work such as the Highway Traffic Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Planning Act, Construction Act, etc.Please note that all applicants must apply directly via the job portal. Toronto Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $77,000 to $80,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
