Job Title: Transportation Foreperson

Job Status: Year Round 11 Months

Compensation and Benefits:

Compensation: Proposed hiring rate of $34.00+, actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

Job Summary:

Assists in managing the day to day operations of the transportation dept. to include the administration and scheduling of all transportation needs within the scope of available equipment and manpower in order to provide employees and guests with reliable, safe, and timely transportation commensurate with minimized costs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervises, administers, and schedules the in-village transportation, employee shuttles, and special guest pick-ups in order to achieve a timely, cost effective transportation system, which meets and exceeds guest and employee expectations.

Coordinates daily labor figures to help control day-to-day labor expenses. Tracks and records safe driving hours within the Transportation Vehicle Accident Free Program.

Compiles information to be distributed to drivers on a daily basis, i.e. snow reports, special events and activities information in order to provide our guests with current and correct information.

Staffs shuttle stops to provide easy egress onto and off our transportation system vehicle. This also includes providing guests with up to the minute information on current operating status, locations of Copper Mountain facilities and crowd control for guest safety.

Conducts periodic driver performance evaluations including ride along visits in order to recognize and coach individual driver's potential problem areas and assist the Manager with formal performance appraisals and action plans if needed.

Perform all office tasks, including verbal and written communications, bookkeeping, reports, etc.

Complies with and evaluates the federally mandated Daily Driver Inspection Reports, checks for accuracy or problems noted and catalogues damages for all transportation vehicles.

Assists in the training of personnel in the transportation department and other outside departments for the Commercial Driver’s License with P-2 and air-brakes endorsements.

Assists in training the Transportation/Vehicle Maintenance Technicians, in-village drivers, charter drivers and other employees of Copper Mountain with regards to policy, procedure and vehicle safety.

Assists in interviewing, performance appraisals, coaching and developing transportation personnel.

Assists in accident investigation involving Copper Mountain Transportation vehicles to determine causes of accidents and makes recommendations (short or long term) to establish a safer environment for our employees and guests commensurate with minimized cost.

Maintains effective inter- and intradepartmental communications and relations with all company departments to insure harmonious and effective operations.

Maintains on-the-job safety for self, fellow employees, visiting associate, guests and property owners.

Assists in developing and communicating to staff short and long range department and individual goals and objectives and oversees the implementation of such strategies.

Assists in contributing to the general good care of the mountain, village and corporate operations.

Operates any transportation vehicle and/or equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Assists in keeping equipment operational including basic repairs and chaining vehicles when necessary.

Assists in starting vehicles in the morning and ensuring vehicles are properly shut down in the evening. Drives a route on system as necessary.

Performs and remains proficient in all skills required of the transportation systems drivers, i.e. shuttle stop announcements, defensive driving skills, good driving record, knowledge of Copper Mountain's Village and services offered.

Assists/repairs/installs/removes all tire chains.

Assist in other daily duties not specifically specified above to ensure the department runs efficiently and effectively.

Must participate in the DOT/FHWA/FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Must be able to lead and advise 40 drivers.

Personal Attributes:

Organizational skills and computer knowledge are desired attributes.

Work comfortably in cold weather and be willing to be outside for long periods of time.

Basic Requirements:

Must be able to lift 50lbs.

Must be able to perform duties in winter alpine environment and be able to work outside for up to 11 hours.

Must pass pre-employment drug test, have current DOT medical card and be able to supply a clean MVR.

Must have current CDL class BP2 license.

Must have CDL Instructors Certificate or be able to secure one within a specified time if required.

This position may require the use of a motor vehicle and the employee is subject to comply with the Driver’s Standards of Copper Mountain.

Must be at least 21 years old

Preferred Experience and Special Skills:

High School diploma or GED

2 years' transportation experience

2 years' supervisory/management experience
