Transportation Hydraulics / Drainage Design EIT

HDR currently has an opening for a Transportation Hydraulics/Drainage Design EIT to join our team in Rosemont, IL. The primary duties of the EIT include working in a team with other project engineers on the detailed drainage design of urban and rural roadway, highway and transit projects throughout the Illinois/Indiana Region. The candidate must be able to demonstrate an ability to work under the direction of multiple project engineers to apply various design, engineering and modeling techniques in the development of transportation and water resource projects for local municipalities, state and federal clients.

The candidate will be involved in highway drainage design and water resources work including hydrology and hydraulic analysis, scour assessments, roadway drainage design, Hydraulic Reports, erosion and sediment pollution control, floodplain impacts and compensatory storage calculations, water quality, detailed design, and plan production, documentation, and stormwater management design. Other responsibilities will include aiding with the creation and submission of technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, and permitting. The candidate will be expected to work independently on small projects or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects.

In the role of Transportation Hydraulics / Drainage Design EIT, we'll count on you to:Assist the Senior Engineer with site studies, site designs, contract documentation preparation and graphic presentationPerform overall site layout, grading, utility layout and drainagePerform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and proceduresComplete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variablesPerform administrative duties associated with project management for civil/site projectsWork independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projectsPerform other duties as neededPreferred Qualifications

1-4 years of experience in transportation drainage engineering projects is preferred.

Experience with storm drain system analysis, MicroStation/AutoCAD required. Civil 3D, StormCAD, Open Roads Designer experience preferred. HEC-RAS and/or SRH-2D river modeling experience is preferred. ArcGIS Pro and HEC-HMS experience is preferred.

Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of task.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
