Transportation Intern

This internship will focus on assisting the Transportation Manager with the logistics, vehicle maintenance and transportation functions of the branch.  Supervise, train and motivate team members to develop their productivity and ensure that resources are available to provide quality, efficient services and on-time performance to new and existing accounts.

Key Responsibilities: Coordinate with drivers weekly, ensuring overtime is not being used excessively.Sequence routes daily to keep loads even and profitable and make recommendations for route changes and/or consolidation to achieve maximum delivery efficiency.Ensure compliance of all DOT rules and regulations on a personnel and equipment level.Develop a contingency plan should the schedule not be followed as posted to ensure routes are delivered on time daily without failure.Assist with the mentoring and training of all new drivers.Manage the preparation of delivery documents for truckers.Assist with weekend and off hour dispatch coverageFill in driving all routes when needed.Assist in developing safe driving, and cross training programs for drivers to improve their abilities and productivity.Manage backhaul, routing and other routine office duties.Provide customer visitation when transportation is involved.Perform other duties, as assigned.What You Bring to Pacific Seafood:
RequiredPursuit of a Logistics related undergraduate/graduate degree.Excellent attention to detail.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.PreferredCumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scaleTotal Compensation:
