Position Title: Transportation Lead
Pay Rate: $32.98/hr
Category/Shift: Hourly Full-Time (7:00am – 3:30pm, Monday – Friday)

The Job You Will Perform:
Direct, plan and manage the day-to-day operations of all activities involving transportation Responsible for completing action items related to Truck and Trailer Federal Inspections/Audits Manage and maintain VMO & DMO/ Experience leveraging J.J. Keller Serve as point-of-contact for all transportation related inquiries and issues Communicate with customers proactively and professionally, ensuring all commitments are being met and customers’ needs are addressed timely Schedule trucks & trailers for service/repairs Schedule daily pickups and respond to customer requests for scheduling and delivery Work with dock to ensure trailers are loaded with equipment as needed Schedule, direct and coach Trucking team members as needed to achieve Plant safety and production objectives Lead daily trucking safety meeting Monitor driver daily logs, VCR’s, and driver hours for accuracy Monitor overtime and efficiencies in the trucking department and route accordingly Be a leader in encouragement and enforcement of IP’s safety standards Establish and communicate to drive team members job performance requirements and minimum standards for safety and productivity Ensure all drive team members are knowledgeable of Plant safety policies and procedures Maintain all equipment maintenance files Work with Finance Specialist for PO’s related to trucking department Assist with scale as needed Spot inspect tractors for cleanliness and perform random ride-a-longs Drive as needed to cover team vacations and/or illness Be a backup for Operations Lead Other duties as assigned
The Skills You Will Bring:
Valid CDL Class A license (REQUIRED) Must be 21 years of age HS Diploma or equivalent Ability to operate a manual transmission Must have 2 to 3 years of verifiable driving experience Must be authorized to work in the United States Must be able to read, speak and write enough English to converse with the general public, read signs and signals, respond to official inquiries and make entries on reports and records Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) Current DOT Medical card Air Brakes Endorsement Lead/Supervisory experience in transportation or related industry Excellent communication skills, verbal and written Strong customer service, follow-up and accountability skills Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail and ability to draw conclusions Good time management skills Pride in reliability and working with a team Flexibility to work overtime and adapt to changes as needed Comfortable backing, maneuvering and parking a tractor trailer Must be familiar with cargo loading procedures to assure proper distribution, location and security Must be able to drive in a wide range of environmental conditions, including, but not limited to, rain, wind, snow, freezing temperatures, hot weather, etc. Knowledge of Traffic Dept. processes Expert knowledge of shipping processes and procedures Familiarity with fleet compliance solutions, preferably J.J. Keller products Excellent leadership, team building, communication and organizational skills Excellent negotiation/conflict resolution skills Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs Strong computer skills, ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure Familiarity with state motor vehicle laws and DOT rules and regulations On-the-job success in safety, attendance & quality of work expected Ability to lead, train and motivate a team of drivers and develop others Ability to foster and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers Ability to identify problems and implement operational process improvements to increase efficiency Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT required medical exam, random drug and/or alcohol tests and satisfactory criminal background check Ability to operate/monitor the following equipment: 48ft and 53ft Semi-Rig and Box Van/Bobtail Trailers, Truck Trailer Forklift Unit (TTFU), Bale Trucks, Roll On-Roll Off for Compactor Tubes and Drop Boxes, PackersThe Benefits You Will Enjoy:
