GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to theExecutive Director of Workforce or designee, theTransportation & Logistics Instructorsupports developing and coordinating Classroom instruction primarily for the Workforce Training Initiatives with Industry partners. TheTransportation & Logistics Instructoris responsible for designing, communicating, and coordinating instruction for industry sector programs and courses. No Civil Service test score or assessmentis required to be considered for this vacancy. Pay Range: $45,000 to $65,000 annually. Applications may be rejected if incomplete. * Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: + Valid Louisiana CDL Class A Driver’s License + Three years of work experience in technical skills, trade, or vocations to be taught are required. + High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree desired. + Knowledgeable in the Workforce crafts subject area of expertise. + Community college experience, university teaching, or corporate training experience is highly desired. DESIRED REQUIREMENTS: + Knowledgeable in NCCER coursework + A valid Louisiana Driver’s License (some travel may be required) + Proof of motor vehicle insurance REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: + Awareness of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (/FMCSA) guidelines effective February 07, 2022. + Ability to adapt to today’s changing standards of commercial vehicles and heavy equipment operations. + Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to relate to a variety of individuals. + Effective written and oral communication skills, time management skills, and the ability to evaluate and determine the priority of workload to meet deadlines and goals. + Must maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials. + Proficiency in Excel, Word, and overall computer-related activities. + High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Job Concepts Primary Responsibilities: + Provides instruction of assigned courses and corresponding prescribed curricula relative to Transportation & Logistics industry sector (Commercial Driver's License, Forklift, Heavy Equipment Operator, etc.). + Maintains program equipment and is responsible for reporting repairs/maintenance needed by external vendors in a timely manner. + Perform third-party exams to issue Class A/B commercial driver’s license. + Generates and maintains industry partnerships. + Markets and recruits for maximum enrollment for assigned courses. + Maintains student awareness of industry employment needs and requirements. + Establishes and maintains a well-disciplined and orderly classroom environment. + Establishes and maintains safety policies and procedures for classroom and work sites. + Evaluates students’ performance by assessing needs, testing skills and knowledge, and then communicating results to the student; develop, update, and maintain students’ training/instructional plans. + Communicates effectively with administrators and staff on students’ progress and program needs. + Instructs students in appropriate entry-level job skills, guide students in making career-related decisions, and assist them in obtaining employment. + Maintains and updates occupational skills, appropriate industry awareness, and community involvement as it relates to successful performance and other required duties as assigned. + DemonstratecommitmenttoprofessionaldevelopmentintheWorkforceandeducational field. + Collaborates with theProgram Manager to non-credit student records of training/certifications. + PERFORMS ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED Louisiana State Government represents a wide variety of career options and offers an outstanding opportunity tomake a differencethrough public service.
