Transportation Manager

We are hiring for a Transportation Manager to manage and coordinate activities within the transportation network for MAPEI America’s. Manages freight spending and quality of services (on-time/on spec) provided. This includes high volume/high velocity inbound and outbound product movement between the US, Canada, Mexico and Caribbean utilizing a large number of carriers.    

Responsibilities:

Manage integrally transportation function, particularly those services contracted or managed by MAPEI; while supporting cost and financial goals. Vendor management – determines strategy, scouts for best available logistic solutions, negotiate directly with all external parties and carriers and establishes performance scorecards and periodical reviews. Fully utilize transportation assets to reduce freight costs whenever possible.  Oversees compliance with TMS procedures along all MAPEI plants (Shipping and Procurement departments). Responsible for compliance and knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations and other safety standards.  Responsible for sourcing and managing US Customs Brokerage services, update and compliance of Import Compliance procedures and maintenance of import HTS tariff codes. Responsible for fleet driver and vehicle regulatory compliance, State and Federal fuel & road tax reporting and driver safety training.   Coordinates a team of 2 direct report that supports and assists all stakeholders. Assist Warehouse Managers with resolution of issues between warehousing, customer service and transportation.  Provide training as needed to maintain an efficient and knowledgeable work force.  Analyze and implement different modes and service options to maximize utilization while keeping outstanding service to customers and plants. Optimize freight cost and working capital (inventory) by ensuring the optimal footprint of products’ availability in each of MAPEI’s warehousing locations.  Support appropriate warehouse space/configuration to effectively accommodate Min, Max levels for each location. Provide solutions that solve negative trends; and ensure full implementation of solution(s) provided. Conform with and abide by all company regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules and instructions.  Perform other duties as required. Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or equivalent in Business, or Supply Chain Management related field highly preferred, MBA a plus; And a minimum of 4 years of Transportation Management experience and related logistics / supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience. (NAFTA knowledge/experience a strong plus.)  Experienced in small packaging and LTL contracts interpretation and negotiation. Hazmat qualified for DOT, maritime and air. Experienced in working for a multiple site international company, manufacturing and distribution environment. Licensing or other Special Requirements Valid driver license and good driving record.  Bilingual skills (English/Spanish and/or Italian) a plus.  APICS Supply Chain or similar Professional Certification a plus Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities
