The City of Fairfield seeks a Transportation Manager to oversee the planning, organization, and management of our Public Transit Programs. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient, innovative, reliable, and high-quality transit services for our community, while also securing funding and grants for transportation infrastructure projects. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in an office setting with frequent interruptions, deadlines, complaints, and peak workload periods. Work may also be required in the field, such as reviewing bus stops, bus routes, accident sites, or construction sites. Position may require working nights and weekends, depending upon workload. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work may include prolonged sitting and standing, as well as light to moderate lifting, reaching, stooping, pulling and manual dexterity. Visual and hearing acuity and clear, understandable speech are also required. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Receives direction and supervision from the Director of Public Works. (https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/fairfield/classspecs/newprint/719018) Minimum Qualifications Experience: Six (6) years experience, of which a minimum of two (2) years of responsible supervisory and administrative experience in performing analytical and administrative duties in the area of program management, preferably in transit operations and/or transit planning, is required. Experience in contract administration as well as planning, funding, and delivering transit related capital projects is desirable. Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in transportation planning, business or public administration, or a related field is required. License and/or Certification: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License is required. Possession of a valid equivalent is acceptable during the application process.
