Century Engineering, LLC a Kleinfelder Company is seeking a Transportation Professional Manager / Technical Civil Leader with experience in the design of highway and urban roadway projects to be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team in our Richmond, VA or Norfolk, VA office. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on major transportation projects and supervise/mentor a team of Civil Transportation engineers and technicians. This is an opportunity for a talented individual who is inspired to promote and support the growth of our Transportation Market and the civil expertise within our well established and growing firm. Candidates should have a minimum of 12 plus years’ experience in civil/transportation engineering and a strong desire for learning and sharing knowledge. This candidate will work with a team of professionals with varied engineering backgrounds who collaborate to deliver a wide range of projects for high-priority clients in the mid-Atlantic region on dynamic infrastructure and transportation projects.

 

Responsibilities will include: 

Manage all phases of project execution including project organization, subconsultants management, scheduling, financial management, health and safety stewardship, and reporting.Mentor and engage with staffLead and participate in technical, cost, and scheduling decisions for interdisciplinary teams ensuring company quality standards and driving client valueOversee projects technically with all aspects of transportation design from conceptual and preliminary engineering to final designCollaborate and manage with highway, structural/bridge, water resources, environmental, geotechnical, survey, traffic professionals, and other designers to lead and complete project deliverablesOversee and lead business development pursuits, designate the appropriate resources to projects, define client needs, address client concerns, and manage engineering resources within budget

To be successful in this role, you will need: 

Project experience in leading multi-disciplinary design, permitting and/or construction projects in the Transportation MarketManagement experienceExperience with detailed roadway / highway design and/or bridge structure design for State Departments of Transportation and municipalities including the development of construction documents, and support services.Ability to assess and resolve issues and conflicts internally and externally.Follow internal quality control and risk management protocols such as peer reviewsWork well managing virtual teams and willingly work with the appropriate resources regardless of locationWork with national in-house group of civil transportation engineers to support the growth in cutting edge innovation, learning, work sharing and resourcing

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering12+ years’ experience in the design and preparation of construction contract documents for Highways and/or Bridge StructuresA passion to meet client objectives and goals, technical challenges, and mentoring other design professionalsRegistration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in VA or the abilitly to obtain within 6 months. Proficiency in design software specifically OpenRoadsStrong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment
